Training Hub Launch
by MMMMaster | Dec 10, 2020
As discussed at the AGM, the club has commenced planning to initiate training hubs in key locations around Melbourne so that members may resume running in groups for the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions (as per Training Program) from January 2021.
This is considered an important and necessary step as it is not known when or if members will be able to return to their places of work in the CBD in the short to medium term, so training hubs may become part of our normal operations.
It is envisaged that these training hubs would commence as soon as possible and operate at the traditional time of day, at 12:30pm in line with the club’s primary purpose – that is, to offer members an informal but structured lunch-time training program. This would need to be flexible depending on the relevant hub leader/s and participants, so sessions could be held early in the morning or at any other mutually agreed time during the day.
The committee is calling for expressions of interest for hub leaders to run the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions at each designated hub.
There would need to be at least two hub leaders per hub, 1 x Primary and 1 x Secondary as a backup to ensure coverage for all sessions at each hub. If you would be interested in nominating as a hub leader, please advise Rosco, Club Secretary at your earliest convenience by emailing secretary@middaymilers.org
As a starting point, there are FIVE proposed training hubs to be established in the following locations:
CBD Hub
Tan/AOP
Primary Hub Leader – James Chiriano; Secondary Hub Leader vacant
North-East Hub
Diamond Valley Athletics at Willinda Park, Greensborough
Primary Hub Leader – Ingrid Morrison; Secondary Hub Leader vacant
South-East Hub
Glenhuntly Athletics at Duncan MacKinnon Reserve, Murrumbeena and/or Box Hill Athletics at Hagenauer Reserve, Box Hill
Primary/Secondary Hub Leader/s vacant
Northern Hub
Aberfeldie Park and/or Edwardes Lake Park in Reservoir
Primary/Secondary Hub Leaders vacant
Inner Western Hub
Williamstown Athletics Centre at Newport Park
Primary Hub Leader – Daryl Sadgrove; Secondary Hub Leader vacant
Please note that the location of these proposed training hubs were based on the availability of suitable athletic tracks and the location of the majority of members. Any members interested in joining/participating in a particular training hub should advise Rosco, Club Secretary by emailing secretary@middaymilers.org as soon as possible so that the committee may gauge interest and determine the viability of each proposed hub in conjunction with the hub leaders.
The committee acknowledges that these training hubs may be inaccessible for members that do not reside in the immediate or surrounding areas of each hub and would welcome feedback on alternative options.
Any questions, comments or issues may be directed to any member of the committee, or email Rosco directly at secretary@middaymilers.org
