The Gold Coast 40th Marathon - (The Miler Invasion)

The Annual Miler Invasion of the Gold Coast is ramping up, but these invasions don't just happen we need transports, barracks, and personnel.

So I'm giving a call out to all the Milers, so we can find out how many are going.

There is talk of booking large house's with pools etc. Mass flights to be booked for a dicount etc.

Remember there is the 10km as well however that is on Saturday.

2018 Gold Coast Marathon | 30 June - 1 July 2018

There is the Full marathon, the Half marathon and the Southern Cross University 10km Run. Pick your spots.

51 runners out there today, (not including the Captain Dave Alcock, and President Shane Fielding.

Big shout out to the girls, 11 runners today, what a start to the year.

Alcock, clearly keeping an eye on the flock, and the president just showing off in civilian clothing. (Back to the tennis young man, but thank you for your presidental pop in).

Amazing start to the year, lots of quality out there today.

Here's to an amazing year.

Stay focused people, stay hydrated and most important sunscreen.

We have work to do.

Good Evening Milers,

2018 has already kick off in full throttle with some fine performances at Two Bays on Sunday, as well as a quick marathon in Hobart by Dion. Well done all.

Just letting you know that the The first Club Championship event, The Mile Handicap will take place Tuesday 13th February. Would hate to be a handicapper! Thanks Grunter πŸ™‚

Following this, the 5M (The Melbourne Midday Milers March Madness) will kick off at a brand new location @ Neerim on Sun 4th March. For anyone that hasn't done this event, you are missing out. Not only is it a great way to better know fellow Milers, it's the best training event going. It's also a great way to get lost...so I've been told πŸ˜‰

Please also remember that from the start of 2018 until the Sat prior to the Melbourne Marathon, you can also run a Parkrun, and this Age graded result will/can also count towards the club championship. (Please note you need to be a fully paid up Miler at the time you run, and results must be verified via the Parkrun website.

For those lucky enough to be in good early form or wishing to test their current form, the Tan Summer TT is also on Thursday 8th February. Please note this is a non-championship event.

If you have any non-facebook Milers friends, please past this on. Any questions at all, please let me know.

Run well

It was a good turnout last week for the Wednesday morning Wkk, even for the earlier 6.55 lap, which I will be doing again tomorrow. Great to see Leon Adkins there, says he's hoping to be a regular Wkker. ... See MoreSee Less

Some great results here and especially well done to the Two Bays 28k first timers Elmo, Jessie, Xmas and UT. Well done and I hope you loved the trails and enjoyed the great conditions!β›°πŸƒπŸ»πŸ˜€
Awesome work by our leading Miler lady, Chez finishing 7th, while it looks like James had a cracker with a PB of 17 mins!

In the 56k females Ingrid put in a solid run 20 mins quicker than last year in what also looks like a huge PB!

In the male 56k, our three combined fastest times were not quite as quick as last year but still very solid all going under 5 hours with Fitter putting on a great performance for fastest time of the day and a PB of more than 3 minutes!

Woodsy, I believe a first timer at Two Bays 56k clocked in a great effort and solid run not far off 5 hours!

Marty had a fantastic run more than 1 hour 20 mins ahead to his last 56k run in 2016!

While Duff was on a training run for Tokyo but still managed about 34 mins quicker than his last Two Bays effort in 2016!

Hef joined us for a quick start but I think the effect of a month long trip to the US and jet lag probably made for some hard work today especially on the return trip back over Arthur's Seat!

Well done to all the Milers who participated in this awesome event today and many thanks to all the supporters and seconders that helped us enjoy (survive) the day and kick off our 2018 race effort with a bang!πŸƒπŸ»πŸ’₯πŸ˜€
